Casting alert! It looks like writer-director Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House) has got his cast lined up for his Netflix adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher.

Flanagan took to Twitter today to share the news that the production is “just a few weeks away from principal photography” and shared some of the ensemble show’s many cast members.

The first reveal was Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon, Robot & Frank, The Box) who will be headlining the ensemble show as the “towering patriarch of the Usher dynasty.” Carla Gugino, who has starred in other Flanagan works including The Haunting of Hill House, will also be on the show along with Battlestar Galactica President Mary McDonnell, who will play “Madeline Usher, Roderick’s sister and the hidden hand of the Usher dynasty.”

Rounding out the announcements was Carl Lumbly (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Supergirl, Alias), who will play investigator C. Auguste Dupin. And last but certainly not least, Mark Hamill (he’s in Star Wars, I think) is part of the show in a role Flanagan describes as “surprisingly at home in the shadows.”

In the same tweet thread, Flanagan described his adaptation as “a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe.” The names he announced today are only part of the cast too, apparently, as Flanagan promised to release more names tomorrow.

“We have MANY more names to share, and will unveil the next wave tomorrow, right here at 10am PST,” Flanagan said in his final tweet today. “Some familiar faces, some new ones, all incredible performers coming together to bring the world of Poe to life as it’s never been seen before. Cannot wait to tell you more!”

UPDATE: Flanagan wasn’t lying when he said there were many, many more names to add to this very large ensemble show. In the same Twitter thread a day later, he added on a slew of new names, many of whom we’ve seen in previous Flanagan works.

Those Flanagan veterans who are also in The Fall of the House of Usher include Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, T’Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Zach Gilford, Sauriyan Sapkota, Katie Parker, Michael Trucco, Crystal Balint, Kyleigh Curran, Aya Furukawa, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Robert Longstreet, and Annabeth Gish.

Whew! That’s a lot of actors! And that’s still not all of them, as some Flanagan newbies—Malcolm Goodwin (iZombie), Paola Nuñez, and Daniel Jun—have joined the cast as well.

“This miniseries is unique for Intrepid, we’ve never done anything quite like this before,” Flanagan said in his final tweet. “I’m so grateful to be working with my long-time collaborator Michael Fimognari, who will be directing four of the eight episodes, and my producing partner and executive producer Trevor Macy.”

No news yet on when The Fall of the House of Usher will premiere on Netflix.
